Russell Curry

Russell Curry was born and raised in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, where he developed a love for the arts when he started taking drum lessons at 8 years old, a year before he was eligible to join his elementary school music program. His love for music only grew when he started rapping at the age of 12. Not long after, he began recording and selling his own mixtapes in the quad at Alta Loma High School. It was there that Russell discovered his love for acting as well.

As the son of a doctor and a nurse, Russell was the product of a strong academic household. This led to a degree in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine. During this time, he became more politically active and advocated for students of color on and off his campus. It was this activism that got the attention of independent filmmakers Omar and Ibrahim Ashmawey. Their film was based on true accounts of racism on college campuses in the late 2000s. As many of these incidents related closely to what Russell and many of his close friends lived through, Russell jumped at the opportunity to executive produce and star in Boiling Pot alongside Academy Award Winner Lou Gossett Jr., Emmy Award Winner Keith David, and Danielle Fishel.

Russell also produced multiple sketch comedy shorts alongside producer Aaron LaMarr Burleson, with whom he later formed the sketch comedy troupe Diversity and Inclusion: The Show!

While most people want to meet their childhood heroes, Russell has the distinct honor of becoming one of his childhood heroes in his current role as Zayto, the Red Ranger on the Netflix Series Power Rangers: Dino Fury; GLAAD award winner for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming in 2022.

Russell spends most of his free time with his family, rooting on his Los Angeles Clippers, traveling, experiencing the best food he can and playing Super Smash Bros Ultimate online with his brother.

Russell's goal is to leave a legacy of work that helps us all laugh loudly, love fully, and think critically.
