Abby Ryder Fortson

Abby Ryder Fortson is currently filming and starring opposite Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates in the title role of Margaret in Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret, directed by Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen) with James L. Brooks producing for his Gracie Films and Lionsgate. The film, based on the book by Judy Blume, just celebrated it’s 50th anniversary and is not only a beloved seminal novel of women and girls worldwide, but is Judy’s first property to be adapted for the screen.

Abby was recently named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Top 30 Stars Under the Age of 18.” She also recently re-teamed with famed director Mark Romanek, starring in the pilot episode of the Amazon Prime series pilot, Tales From The Loop, opposite Rebecca Hall. Abby’s performance earned widespread critical praise, inlcuiding Matt Fagerholm of Roger Ebert declaring, “Abby Ryder Fortson cements her status as one of the most promising actors of her generation.”

She starred as Young CJ opposite Betty Gilpin for Spielberg’s Dreamworks Studios in the Universal Pictures, A Dog’s Journey, directed by Gail Mancuso.

Abby probably became best known for her role as Cassie Lang, AntMan’s daughter in the Marvel’s blockbuster films, ANTMAN and the WASP and ANT-MAN directed by Peyton Reed. She again earned widespread critical praise for her comedically touching scene stealing performances opposite Paul Rudd.

Abby gave a tour de force performance starring in Season 2 of the Duplass Brother’s HBO show, Room 104, directed by Sundance alum So Yong Kim.

After bursting onto the scene, recurring on Jill Soloway’s Golden Globe winning Amazon Prime series Transparent, as a series regular on HBO's critically acclaimed Duplass Brother’s, Togetherness, playing Sophie Pierson, Mark Duplass and Melanie Lynsky's daughter, and throughout the first season of Spielberg’s ABC series, The Whispers, playing Harper Weil opposite Lily Rabe, Entertainment Weekly named Abby, “One of TVs Most Valuable Kids.” EW also proclaimed Abby, “One of the best actors under 12” and “One of the top child actors to watch.”

Abby will reprise her role next year in the feature RATED based on the 21x Award Winning short film alongside her mother, actress Christie Lynn Smith, and father, actor/writer/director John Fortson, who co-wrote and directed the film.

Abby loves reading, hiking, surfing, and baking. She is a fierce animal rights activist. Other causes close to her heart include equality and women’s rights, environmental issues, politics and voter protections.
